26 Years to Feel This Something
... and I'll be damned if I let it slip away. Yikes. You know that moment when you realise that all that internal trauma and mental tennis you play is NOT unique to you? That moment when you wake up and let go and start to be brave and take all the shit that comes with living an authentic life? That moment when a piece of art, line of a poem or verse of a song aligns itself so precisely to your true self that you hear a physical chime of resonation. Yeah. That.
Jeremy Loops and his album have become a bit of a constant on my playlist in 2016, which I'm now referring to as "my leap year". His music is playful and poetic with a few grains of gritty realisation and determination thrown in for good measure. He reminds me to play around and laugh and not be so damned serious all the time. Trip Fox, Running Away and My Shoes kindle those little thrills and tribulations that come with young crushes whilst Power reminds me to be kind and empowering in order to receive kindness and be empowered.
Apart from being from Cape Town (ish...), I knew very little about the bloke but his use of Social Media is pretty spellbinding. His Facebook feed is littered with his personal life via his photography hobby and his passion for a healthy lifestyle even when on tour. I mean, look:
So when I stumbled across this video session from RedBull and its captivating use of light and camera angles, I was more than a little elated at hearing Jezza L's story. Or rather, I was elated to be hearing echoes of my own story in so many ways.
